Keyboard Experience

A series of keyboard test we did is to narrow down the impact factors from data collection and users’ feeling. We contributed the keyboard spec for over 13-inch notebooks (P1, S1, Click ratio). We also considered some influence factors for qualitative reference, including Keyboard Layout, Material (Spray painting) and Sound Feedback.

P1 (Make force): The force required to collapse the membrane of a rubber switch.
S1: Peak stroke
P2: The force required to maintain rubber-switch contact closure force/stroke curve with a printed circuit board.
Click ratio: [(P1-P2)/P1]X 100%

Evaluate strokes in typing experience:

• 1.0mm ~1.5mm respective performance (satisfaction)
• Define premium keyboard stoke for Ultra form-factor
